Where the Cahaba Winds is an original landscape painting.
24" W x 48"H in mixed media on gallery stretched canvas (2026).
Where the Cahaba Winds is a richly layered interpretation of the Cahaba River Blueway and the landscape that surrounds it.
The tall vertical composition draws the eye through an expansive stretch of terrain, moving from dense, vibrant foliage and rolling hills toward the winding river below. The Cahaba curves through the landscape in luminous passages before gathering momentum and spilling into a waterfall near the foreground.
This piece revisits an earlier commission, The Cahaba Blueway, with a deeper and more saturated palette. The rich greens, rusty oranges, and brilliant blues heighten the sense of depth and movement, giving the landscape a more immersive and almost dreamlike presence.
Rather than depicting a single fixed viewpoint, Where the Cahaba Winds invites the viewer to travel through the landscape—to follow the river as it bends, narrows, opens, and falls. It is both a portrait of place and a celebration of the movement that gives the Cahaba River its character.
