By Way Of The Weeds celebrates the details we are often encouraged to ignore or overlook. Rendered with the feeling of serene presence and a warm summer breeze, this painting invites the viewer to “get in the weeds” and carve out a path of their own.  

The foreground is dense with unruly weeds and wildflowers, while a subtle clearing at the lower edge suggests the viewer is standing in the weeds,  beginning a path through the growth.  Beyond, the landscape opens up, revealing a crisp and expansive view of what lies ahead.  

This piece metaphorically reflects the way I process the world. For much of my life, I was told that I was “too in the weeds”—too focused on details, too concerned with things others considered minor or unnecessary. I now understand that those details are not a distraction from the larger picture: They are how I find it. The untamed foreground becomes something to honor rather than clear away. Every blade, texture, shift in color, and small piece of information contributes to the landscape beyond it.

By Way Of The Weeds is about embracing the way my mind needs to travel. The path forward does not require me to rise above the weeds. Sometimes, it begins by stepping into them.
