The View From The Grass
The View from the Grass is an original painting from the On The Scenic Path Collection.
30“W x 24“H in mixed media on stretched canvas (2024).
The View from the Grass is about wonder, stillness, and noticing what appears when you stop moving.
Seen from the ground, the landscape feels both intimate and expansive. Tall grass surrounds the viewer, fireflies flicker through the foreground, and telephone poles recede into the distance beneath a luminous night sky. The underside of a large tree frames the scene, grounding the viewer in a quiet, almost hidden vantage point.
Created as part of the On the Scenic Path collection, this piece reflects on the beauty that becomes visible when we allow ourselves to move through the world differently. The scene asks us to stop, lie back, and look up rather than continuing forward in the expected way.
From this low perspective, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Weeds become a place to rest, utility poles become markers leading toward the horizon, and a familiar night sky opens into something vast and otherworldly.
The View from the Grass is about allowing wonder to interrupt the journey, and remembering that sometimes the scenic path is not about where we go, but about how we choose to see.
